A Letter from the Nadcap SSC Chair - Berlin Nadcap Meeting 2017
Hello, fellow Nadcap suppliers! In keeping with the SSC’s ongoing communication efforts, this letter will provide a brief summary to all suppliers about the recent Nadcap meeting held June 5-8 in Berlin, Germany.
264 suppliers attended the Pittsburgh meeting, 83 of whom attended the SSC general meeting Tuesday afternoon. We were very pleased at the level of participation given that the week started with a national holiday for many European countries. Important news applicable to suppliers includes:
- We are very pleased with the success of the reorganization of our sponsored events schedule; we have seen unprecedented supplier attendance at these sessions. Our goal is to have most of them on Monday morning when most task groups are not open to suppliers, and to have them following one another throughout the morning. This allows for fewer conflicts for suppliers attending Nadcap meetings. We will maintain this schedule for Pittsburgh, so plan to travel on Sunday and attend the Monday morning events. Suppliers in New Orleans and Berlin have found this to be very helpful; we are sure you will, too. Our general meeting remains scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
- Supplier events planned for October 23-26 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, include:
- A powerful line-up of events designed to provide information on the Nadcap system that will be particularly useful to new participants and first time meeting attendees starts at 8AM on Monday: SSC Leadership Team Opening Reception for all suppliers – chat with experienced suppliers and learn more about the Nadcap process, one on one; a new and improved Supplier Tutorial; Keys to a Successful Audit, shared by an experienced supplier; eAuditNet Tutorial, presented by PRI staff; and a training session on Supplier Voting Membership which summarizes the benefits and responsibilities of task group participation.
- Subscriber Updates – come and hear what is happening with Nadcap Subscribers – Honeywell and Boeing have agreed to present in Pittsburgh on Monday afternoon. This will be of interest to suppliers of these companies.
- On-Line Resources Available to Suppliers – many resources are available to suppliers preparing for Nadcap audits and for learning how to respond to NCRs. This presentation will show suppliers what those resources are, what each does, and where one can find them on the websites (Monday afternoon).
- SSC General meeting featuring supplier news and the final version of the new Auditee Communications Kit. We have scheduled time for the NMC Vice-Chair, Frank McManus of Lockheed Martin, to address suppliers. An interactive session soliciting what suppliers would like to see from Nadcap is planned as well. What would you like to see that you are not getting today? Come prepared to contribute your thoughts!
- Our 2017 Supplier Survey will launch in October, and there will be computers available at the meeting for you to use to complete the survey while in Pittsburgh.
- I would like to urge Nadcap suppliers to get training on U.S. export control regulations and how they apply to your company. Non-U.S. suppliers need to understand these requirements as well before selecting the ITAR/EAR checkbox when scheduling an audit. If you select the ITAR/EAR box you are stating that you have U.S. export controlled items in your facility available for the audit, and you will pay more for an auditor who can legally view such items. The SSC is working to arrange a sponsored event on U.S. export regulations in Pittsburgh – keep checking the agenda on p-r-i.org web site.
- As a reminder, task group minutes are posted on the p-r-i.org website – take advantage and review them if you did not attend this meeting.
- To help keep you informed of checklist changes we are providing a list via email of those checklists which are being revised and/or balloted.
